Over 35 years of experience in real estate development and large-scale project management, with executive project delivery responsibility including financial and budget management and design and construction supervision. Mr. Ryan joined Related in 1997 and has been in senior management roles for 24 years within Related’s mixed-use division Related Urban Development.
In 2019, Mr. Ryan joined Related Santa Clara as the Executive Vice President for Related Santa Clara with overall development management responsibility for the project, with a specific focus on the City Center district and its 5 million square feet of office, hotel, residential, retail / F&B and public realm uses.
From 2009-2019, Mr. Ryan was the Co-Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Gulf Related, a UAE based joint venture of Related and Gulf Capital, a leading private equity firm in the MENA region. Over $2.5 billion in completed projects include The Galleria, a two phase 2.5-million-square-foot super regional shopping center located within a premier mixed-use center in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and Antara, a 550-unit residential resort style residential complex in Riyadh, KSA.
Prior to 2009, Mr. Ryan’s Related experiences included management of the RFP winning proposal and subsequent predevelopment responsibilities for The Grand LA, Related’s signature mixed-use tower project in downtown Los Angeles, CA, and was the original development executive for Related’s 72-acre urban district and mixed-use project, Rosemary Square, located in downtown West Palm Beach, FL.
From 1993 to 1996, Mr. Ryan was Vice President of Development for a subsidiary of Maxxam, Inc. where he was in charge of hotel and residential master planning and development activities for a 3,000-acre resort community in Puerto Rico.
From 1985-1993, Mr. Ryan was in charge of development and financial analysis at Himmel and Company and Miller-Klutznick-Davis-Gray Company where he was involved in such notable projects as Reston Town Center, 75-101 Federal Street in Boston, Fox Plaza in Los Angeles and the AMA Headquarters in Chicago.
From 1980-1983, Mr. Ryan was an architect with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in the Chicago Headquarters office.
Mr. Ryan Received a Master of Business Administration degree from the Wharton School in 1985 and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois in 1980.
