The Square rings in 2024 with an extensive lineup of community-driven events

Following a successful 2023 when The Square hosted nearly 1,000 events, the Downtown West Palm Beach neighborhood announces a diverse lineup of programming for early 2024. The Square continues to be the leading destination for residents and visitors for shopping, dining and increasingly works to host events focused on positively impacting its community.

From January through March, locals and visitors can expect a variety of cultural happenings such as Black History Month and Holi as well as monthly programming such as the upbeat Jazz Sessions, thought-provoking panel discussions and the return of District Fit fitness festival. 

Cultural Celebrations: The Square kicks off the year with events honoring traditions from around the world. 

• Black History Month Celebration: The Square will host a full schedule of enlightening events focusing on the impact of African American culture on the arts, education and entrepreneurship in partnership with Rohi’s Readery, the award-winning social justice driven children's bookstore and learning center. Guests can enjoy a celebrity book reading and workshops led by local luminaries such as Erica Squire, Founder of Natural Movers Foundation, Brian Knowles, Creator of Teach.Heal.Build, and Dr. Nightengale-Lee, Assistant Professor in the department of Curriculum & Instruction at Florida Atlantic University. Attendees are also welcome to participate in immersive art and gardening activities, as well as a vendor market highlighting black-owned businesses. All events are free and open to the public. • Holi Hai, The Festival of Colors Celebration: Celebrate the coming of Spring, the joy of friendship and new beginnings, triumph of good over evil, and equality with Rohi's Readery in collaboration with The Square during the "Holi Hai, the Festival of Colors Celebration”. All ages and backgrounds are welcome to learn the history and meaning of this beautiful festival and how it is celebrated in India and around the world. Share in the power of human connection and community through inclusive experiences such as music, dance, food, goods, story time, classes and more. All events are free + open to the public. March 23

Health & Wellness: Sweat it out with local fitness enthusiasts and motivators.

• District Fit: District Fit is West Palm’s most engaging fitness and wellness festival focused on mindful practices, physical fitness, and a health-conscious lifestyle at The Square and Hilton West Palm Beach. This full day of wellness programming features a lineup of free and donation-based classes led by elite instructors including yoga, cycling, dance, HIIT and meditative workshops. Net proceeds from the event will benefit a local non-profit. Free and open to the public. March 9
• Run Club: Break a sweat with fellow runners in the community during this run club led by Alex Celis. Meet in front of lululemon to mingle, stretch and warm up before setting off on a 2-mile loop around Downtown West Palm Beach, ending back at The Salty for a cool down and sweet treat. Free and open to the public. First Saturday of each month at 8:45am
• Yoga:
  • Wednesdays: Join Jade Wonzo each week on the lawn for an hour long, all levels flow supporting Rohi’s Readery. Recognized as a hometown hero by CBS News, Jade believes that all bodies are “yoga bodies” and classes are created for all to enjoy, no matter size, color, ability or skill level. Free and open to the public. Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30pm
  • Saturdays: Roll out your mats with the community as lululemon Ambassador, Natalie Addison, guides you through an all-levels Vinyasa class. Start your weekend off right, enjoy a fresh playlist, move your body and set intentions for the day. All levels, bodies and people are welcome. Free and open to the public. Saturdays from 10-11am
• HIIT workout with 1 Fitness: Join 1 Fitness instructors for 45 minutes of high intensity functional movements using various resistance training techniques combined with cardio intervals to improve strength, help build lean muscle and maximize calorie burn. These classes are perfect for all levels. Free and open to the public. Sundays from 9-9:45am

Panel Discussions: Explore new ideas and perspectives in panels around trending topics led by community leaders. All events are complimentary to attend with an option to support the non-profit partner for each event.

• Education: Where Do We Go From Here?
  Partner: Center for Creative Education
  COVID, declines in test scores, teacher shortages, book banning, and a major election coming up in 2024. Is it the perfect storm or the perfect opportunity to get back to defining what is takes to educate America’s students? Join Mike Burke, Superintendent of the Palm Beach County School District and Bob Hamon, CEO of the Center for Creative Education, and the Foundations School as they discuss pertinent topics in education today. • Inventing Beauty: The 18^th African American Film Festival
  Partner: Kravis Center for the Performing Arts
  It’s often said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that beauty is only skin-deep. Yet, beauty is power. So, what is beauty? Join Terri Francis, author, curator and film scholar, along with Imani Warren, producer and screenwriter, as they explore the themes of race, beauty and black history throughout film. • A Conversation with Women on Art
  Partner: Cultural Council for Palm Beach County
  Drawn from the current exhibition She.Her.Hers at the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County, Jessica Ransom, Director of Artist Service, will engage in conversation with artists Sarah Huang and Lisa MacNamara about their work and its layers of connections to family, their unique perspective on art making, and the innovative use of materials and display with their work. • Women’s History Month with the Junior League of the Palm Beaches
  Celebrate Women's History Month and International Women's Day with the Junior League of the Palm Beaches, a non-profit organization of women whose mission is to advocate for women's leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration and training. The panel will feature Junior League’s President, Chelsea Bellew, and distinct community leaders discussing how women in our own community can work together to make an impact in Palm Beach County. Guests are requested to wear red, the designated color of Junior League. March 7
• Behind the Curtain: The INNOVATE
  Partner: Royal Poinciana Playhouse
  Experience an exclusive sneak peek behind the curtain at The INNOVATE, the highly anticipated transformation of the former Royal Poinciana Playhouse in Palm Beach. Cheryl Mendelson, Executive Director, and special guest artists will unveil their visionary plans of how innovation will shape this iconic venue into a vibrant hub where community and culture converge. Moderated by Daphne Nikolopoulos, Editor-In-Chief of Palm Beach Illustrated and Editorial Director of Palm Beach Media Group. Free and open to the public. RSVP via Eventbrite; $20 VIP tickets. Abundant Inspiration For All Through Arts & Culture: Visitors can unleash their own creativity, while interacting with international and local artists through large-scale installations, murals, pop-up galleries and more.

• Norton Open Studio: Tap your inner artist and engage with a local artist curated by the Norton Museum of Art for a themed activity at The Square. All ages are welcome; free and open to the public. February 8 and April 11 from 5-8pm
• Armory Art Center Workshop Series: Budding artists of all levels are invited to tap into their creative side with Armory Art Center monthly workshops. All ages are welcome; free and open to the public. Third Sunday of the month - January 21, February 18, March 17, and April 21 from 1-4pm
• Jazz Sessions: Gather and groove on the lawn during the monthly Jazz Sessions series. Enjoy a showcase of the finest up and coming musicians in South Florida while taking in the sounds of smooth jazz and the rich tones of brass and string instruments. Free and open to the public. January 11, February 8, and March 14 from 5-8pm
